Writing
This part of the site collates five different types of writing:
- Compendium
- Blogroll
- Blog
- Microblog
- Picoblog
A compendium is a new term, coined to describe Cosma Shalizi’s notebooks. These are excellent and the world needs more of them.
A blogroll is a collection of blogs that I like, coupled with descriptions of what kind of content they produce. It also provides a list of academic researchers in my area, with links to their websites.
A blog is what it sounds like.
A microblog is 3-to-5-paragraph thoughts on things.
A picoblog is early Twitter, but without the social aspects. Small throwaway observations on the order of a few sentences.
Oh, and I’ve also got an articles page, for all the other things I’ve written on this site.
If you’re interested, here’s an explanation as to why I’ve organized my site this way.
